V+J serving fork and spoon

clients: Vicky and Jordan

The original sterling silver objects were a set of very ornate serving utensils. The ornament was unusual and inspired the direction for these two sculptures, made as the memorials of the original objects. The green hill with the fork penetrating and monument like is made of polymer clay and foam. I originally imagined the spoon, "Roto-spoon" as a video, perhaps a reference to Duchamp's optical Rotoreliefs. In the end I opted for a photographic format and the image is printed as a small edition on rag paper. The silver in this original object allowed me enough material to make 6 small ice cream spoons as requested by the client.  They are shown here in a felt display case, which is becoming a considered element for each installment of the project moving forward.
